Getting started

How do I set up my Klever Klox?

Plug it into USB-C, put your WiFi name and password into settings.json on the SD card, and restart it. That is the whole setup — the time sets itself from there.

Full walkthrough

Do I need an app?

No. Everything can be set from the knob and the four buttons on the clock itself. If you would rather type, the clock also serves its own web page — open its address in any browser on the same network.

Does it need WiFi to work?

It runs perfectly well without it — you just set the time by hand instead of it setting itself, and you lose the web interface and automatic updates. Alarms, lighting and audio all work offline.

Using it

How do I stop the alarm?

Press the knob and the alarm goes quiet.

Pressing the knob when nothing is playing restarts the clock. It only silences an alarm while one is sounding.

Can I use my own alarm sounds?

Yes — any MP3. Take the SD card out of the back, drop the files onto it from a computer, put it back and restart the clock. The new tracks appear in the song list straight away.

Adding songs

Can I have different alarms on different days?

Yes. Every alarm has its own set of weekdays, its own volume and its own track, and you can add as many as you need.

Is the screen too bright at night?

The brightness is adjustable from the Settings menu, and the ON/OFF button turns the display off entirely while the alarms stay armed. Plenty of people run it dark and never see the screen until it wakes them.

Updates and support

How do I update the clock's software?

You don't have to. A clock on WiFi checks for new firmware by itself and installs it. If you would rather do it on demand, the Settings menu and the clock's web page both have a check-now button.

About firmware

What if an update fails halfway?

Nothing breaks. New firmware is written to a spare slot and only becomes the version that runs once the whole image has arrived and its checksum matches. A dropped connection or a power cut mid-update just means the clock starts on the firmware it already had and tries again later.

Something is wrong with mine. What now?

Get in touch and tell us what it is doing. These are built by hand in small numbers, so a real person reads it and usually knows the answer.

Ordering

How much is it, and does that include shipping?

A Klever Klox is $44.99. Shipping is not included — it depends on where you are, so we arrange it with you when you order.

Which colours can I get?

Twelve, including clear, stone-textured and multicolour silk. Nothing is printed until you have picked one, so it really is a choice rather than whatever is in stock.

How long does it take to arrive?

Each clock is printed and assembled after you order it, so allow time for that on top of the post. We will give you a real estimate when you get in touch rather than a number invented for a web page.

Still stuck?
